Rosemary Harris will present an entertaining and historical account of Annie Wittenmyer a notable figure in Iowa History because of her Civil War relief work. She cared for wounded soldiers and founded orphanages in Iowa for the children of deceased soldiers.

Rosemary Harris will present an entertaining and informative program on the notable figure Annie Wittenmyer. Annie is known in Iowa history because of her Civil War relief work in caring for wounded soldiers and orphaned children. She was known outside of Iowa for her courageous work in visiting soldiers on the battlefield, in field hospitals and riverboats. Her tireless efforts brought forth reform in caring for the sick and dying.
